Way back in January, I ran a contest to win a free 30-minute session to kick off the New Year. I’m not a huge contest kind of guy, but I guess that day I was feeling a little spry. Yes, that rhyme was intentional.
Lorelli Deml won the contest and shortly after learned she was pregnant. We decided to wait on doing the pictures until after the pregnancy to take the pictures. A few days after baby —- was born, Lorelli emailed me and set up the shoot. Having a newborn and two other small children, I knew we should keep the pictures close to where they live, so we decided on Lake Willastein in Maumelle. Our first choice of a cotton field was ruled out, but hopefully we’ll still get a chance to do pictures there soon.
When people ask what time is best for pictures, I always tell them sunrise or sunset. Sunrise is my favorite without a doubt. But once daylight savings time hits, most people don’t want to start taking pictures at 6:30AM. Totally understandable. But, I think you will see from the pictures below, when you have a family who is willing to wake up at the crack of dawn the take pictures, the light really pays off.
Enjoy the pictures!
